Text Box: LONG-TERM FOLLOW-UP OF CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE IN KAWASAKI DISEASE

Objective: To study the recovery of coronary artery disease in kawasaki disease (KD).

Methods: 36 cases diagnosed as KD were given ECG and UCG examinations during the acute and were given re-examination at different phases of 6 months –3 years.

Results: During the acute phases, 16 cases were found with abnormal ECG. During the follow-up, leads low voltage all disappeared, 2 cases with severe coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) with myocardial ischemia remained the same. There were 12 cases of coronary artery artery enlargement and 8 cases of CAA. After follow-up from 6 months to 3 years, 12 cases recovered, 3 cases had no changed and 5 cases were out contact. The KD children without CAD had normal follow-up results.

Conclusion: About 33% KD patients who suffer from CAD will recover in 3 years, aspirin should be taken until CAD disappears.
