ANALYSIS
OF CLINICAL CHANGING IN ACUTE RENAL FAILURE AT BEIJING CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
(1975-2000) Meng Q, Zhang YW Beijing
Children’s Hospital, Beijing, China. Objective: To investigate the clinical changing of the primary diseases, the
causes of death and prognosis of acute renal failure (ARF) in children from 1975 to 2000. Methods: We collected the clinical data of 74 discharged children with acute
renal failure during 1997-2000. We analyzed and followed-up these patients,
which had been compared with our hospital’s past patients with
ARF (1975-1981) and did statistics analysis. Results: Compared with past data, the primary diseases
have changed. Hemolysis uremic syndrome (HUS) and diarrhea have increased
(x2 =10.17,6.78;P<0.01,0.01), acute glomerular nephritis
(AGN) and rapid progressive glomerular nephritis (RPGN) and infection have
no differences (x2 =2.75, 2.31, 2.32; P>0.05, 0.05, 0.05).
The causes of death of acute renal failure have changed a little
(P<0.01). It’s prognosis has improved (x2=9.95, P<0.01). Conclusion: The first primary diseases of acute renal failure are HUS and AGN,
the second is diarrhea, the third are RPGN and infection. The causes of
death are still infection, bleeding and cardiac failure, but no longer
water-electrolyte disturbance and pulmonary edema. The mortality (14.86%)
has decreased remarkably in recent 4 years.
