THE STUDY OF COMMUNITY FOR MENTAL DEVELOPMENT IN
INFANTS Ma

community intervention for mental development in infants from newborn to 3
years old with scientific and effective methods. Methods: 1. Children’s mental
development community intervention was connected with community hygiene
services. Community doctors taught
infant brain development techniques to infants’ parents at home.
Children were trained by their mothers. Community doctors supervised and
directed them regularly. Then they surveyed children’s mental development.
2. Infant development scale by Bayley was used to survey mental development
index (MDI). 3. 347 patients were divided into two groups by whole colony
sampling (community intervention group: 247, control group: 100). Data were
statistically analyzed. Results: 45 communities and 5,275
infants, 65.53% (5,275/8,050) of the total newborns were carried out in 1
year. MDI mean of caretakers increased 13.20 and rate of mental retardation
was 0, control group was 6%(6/100). Conclusion: Community intervention
for mental development in infant may improve the intelligent of children
and decrease the morbidity of mental retardation.
