CONTROL STUDY OF SIMPLE OBESITY CHILDREN ON
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS Objective: To research the effect of simple obesity
on behavior, psychological problems. Methods: Achenbach Measuring
Scale and Children Inventory of Mental Health were employed to study the
behavior problems, psychology and social adaptive capacity of 100 simple
obese children with 4 -14 years old though matched groups study with 100
normal children as a control group. Result: Frequency of behavior
problems in obesity group is higher than in control group. Obese boys
showed higher frequency in aggressive behaviors, running counter to
disciplines, hyperkinetic behaviors and compulsive behaviors while obese girls
showed poor social contact capacity, depression, un-mature, and anxious,
etc. There are significant
differences between obese children and normal children in psychology
and social adaptive capacity, school activities and social contact
capacity. Conclusion: Psychological behaviors
and social adaptive capacities of simple obese children are different from
normal children. Phenomena of mental damage and behavior deviation increase
when obesity gets more serious. It is necessary to strengthen mental health
education and use comprehensive cures to ensure a healthy physical and
mental development of obese children. Keywords: obesity, mental
