SAVIOUR OF SENSORY INTEGRATIVE DYSFUNCTION CHILDREN NEUROBEHAVIOURAL INTEGRATIVE TRAINING SERIAL

Objective: To explore an effective way 0f nursing for sensory integrative dysfunction children.

Methods: The neurobehavioral integrative training serial was introduced into our hospital in the end of 1997, and then the training serial has being applied to use for those patients who suffer from sensory integrative dysfunction. The serials include some equipment such as sports slide, big cage ball, hanging canvas basket, rolling cylinders, sheep ear ball, balance table, jumping bed, kangaroo’s jumping bag, etc. From June 1998 to December 2000, 570 children (age between 6 to 12 years old) consulted health care doctors with complains such as rest, hardly concentrate, learning difficulties. Among which 418 children was diagnosed severe sensory integrative dysfunction, 132 was diagnosed gently sensory integrative dysfunction. There were 118 cases attended the training, but only 49 patients insisted on the training for 2 to 4 courses (every courses contains20 times training, 2 to 3 times a week)

Results: Among 31 severe cases there were 18 cases became normal, 9 cases became gently sensory integration dysfunction and 4 cases didn’t as good as expected; among 18 gently cases there were 15 cases became normal, 3 cases didn’t as good as expected.

Conclusion: 1. Neurobehavioral integrative training serial is an effective way of nursing for sensory integrative dysfunction children, the effective rate is more than 83%; 2. Younger children have better effects. 3. The longer the training time is, the better is the effect.
