Objective: To know the clinical features of urolithiasis in children and treat in time.

Method: We collected the clinical data of 30 hospitalized children with urolithiasis during Jan. 1st, 1999 to May 31, 2000.

Results: There were 24 boys (80%) and 22 cases (73.3%) were preschool age. We found that the calculi had been located in upper urinary tract (UUT) in 19 cases (63.3%). The most common symtoms were acute flank pain, hematuria and anuria in UUT-calculi(UUT-C),but dysuria were common in low urinary tract calculi (LUT-C).The five infants with UUT-C presented as anuria and developed to acute renal insufficiency. B-ultrasound, IVP and KUB had confirmed the diagnosis of calculi in 91%, 50%, 77% respectively.

Conclusion: Male was predominant in children with urolithiasis and infants onset could be found in our group. The UUT-C was common than LUT-C and UUT-C's clinical manifestations were variable; infants with calculi had developed to renal insufficiency easier than children. The detective rate of calculi by B-ultrasound was much higher than KUB and IVP.
