CHILDREN IN LASTING EPILEPTIC STATE BY CONTINUOUS INTRAVENOUS INSTILLATION
OF OVERDOSED TRANQUILLIZER 7 CASES Yu

Central Hospital of PLA, Wuhan, China Objective: To probe into the
difference between curing children in lasting epileptic state by continuous
intravenous instillation overdosed and by normal dosage tranquillizer. Methods: Continuous
intravenous instillation of tranquillizer
20~50mg mixed with 10% glucose solution. Children’s frequent convulsion
disappeared. The total dosage is 70~120mg, averaged dosage is 4.3~7.5mg/Kg,
low speed as 1.07~1.87mg/Kg/h according to each epileptic child with
different pathagenis compared to normal methods have no effect like:
tranquillizer 0.5mg/Kg, phenobabital 10mg/Kg per injection. Results: No bad reaction in
curing process. 6 children were brought out of epileptic state. No sequela
appeared according to followed visits. 1 child died because of brain hernia
caused by massive oral taking and late seeking medical advice. Conclusion: Good curative
effect appeared in rescuing children in epileptic lasting state by
continuous intravenous instillation of overdosed tranquillizer. Key words: ver dosage,
