CLINICAL
EFFECT OF PARTIAL PARENTERAL NUTRITION ON VERY LOW BIRTH WEIGHT INFANTS Wang SW, Yu XY, Dong LJ, Zhang YM Harbin Children's Hospital, Harbin, China Objective: To
investigate clinical effect of Partial Parenteral Nutrition (PPN) in
treating Very Low Birth Weight Infants (VLBWI). Methods: The
60 patients who were born with gestation less than 32 weeks and birth
weight less than 1500g were divided into two groups. One group was given
incubation, antibiotics for resisting infection, diluted formula powder
special for VLBWI, 5%~8%
Glucose and 0.9% Natrii chloride injected . Besides being given such
treatment, another group was given 5% amino acid from 0.5g/(kg.d) to
2g/(kg.d), 10% intralipid from 0.5g/(kg.d) to 2g/(kg.d), 5%~8% glucose from
3mg/(kg.min) to 5~6mg/(kg.min)
gradually, various vitamins and minerals. The dose of amino acid,
intralipid, glucose decreased gradually when milk volume increased. Results: In
the group with PPN, mortality rate was smaller than that of another group,
X2=4.81,P<0.05, the complication rate was smaller than that
of another group, X2=12.0, P<0.01, the degree of
physiological weight decline was smaller than that of another group without
PPN, X2=4.29,P<0.05. Conclusion:
PPN can be used as routine to the VLBWI who has normal liver and kidney
function.
