Objective: In order to get better curative effects and fewer side effects, we tried to improve the traditional adrenocortical hormone therapy (shorted as hormone therapy) in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome (NS). We chose the Hormone Impact therapy instead of the traditional Medium-long-term Hormone method.

Methods: For those patients who had been diagnosed as NS and meet the conditions of Hormone Impact therapy (no infection, or Hypertension. etc.), we administrated them with intravenous high dose of methyl prednsonlone for 1 course, then oral prednson on alternate-day for 4 weeks, after then, reduced prednson gradually to small dosage and maintain a long term.

Results: Among the 83 cases, 71 suffered from Primary Nephrotic Syndrome and 12 suffered from Secondary Nephrotic Syndrome. Within one week after impact, the urine protein of 58 cases dropped to negative (58/83); 15 cases of the 25 rest patients whose urine protein was not negative began to receive the second course of Hormone Impact therapy one week later after the first course. Within one week after the second course, the urine protein of 10 cases (10/15) dropped to negative.

Conclusion: Compared with the traditional Medium-long-term hormone therapy in the treatment of NS, the Hormone Impact method had been confirmed to be more effective, rapid and have less side effects (such as  Cushing Symptom). It turns to be a great success.
