HISTOLOGICAL
CATEGORIES OF ASYMPTOMATIC HEMATURIA IN CHILDREN Zhang guiju, Shen ying,
zhang yuwen, et al Beijing Children*s
Hospital, Beijing, China Objective: To study the kidney histological categories of asymptomatic
hematuria in children. Methods: 45 children with asymptomatic hematuria were given renal biopsy. All
of them were examined by light microscopy, electron microscopy and
immunofluorescence. Results: Biopsies were classified as thin basement membrane nephropathy
(TMN)(13), IgA nephropathy (11), mesangial proliferative
glomerulonephritis(8), Alport syndrome(6), minor glomerular abnormalities
(4), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(4) and IgM nephropathy(1). Conclusions: In this series the commonest biopsy diagenosis was TMN and Alport
syndrome (42.2%), but a positive family history was observed in less than
half. IgA nephropathy was the second most-frequent condition in the present
series. There was a marked male predominance in IgA nephropathy. Some IgM
nephropathy and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis may also present as
asymptomatic hematuria. |
