Objective: To investigate the morbidity rate and the related factors of asthma in children Aged in 0-14 years in Nanshan area. The situation of therapy and the influences to the Patient children, families and society caused by asthma were also investigated.

Methods: Based on the standard tables formthe national epidemic investigating group of asthma”, 2042 children aged of 0-14 years in Nanshan were investigated by means of the centralized and dispersed visiting ,telephone and clinics protocols with sophisticated quality control.

Reslults:There were differences in our results form those in national investigation The morbidity rate of asthma in Nanshan (2.39%)was significantly higher than that in national investigation (2.03%); There was no seasonal prevalence in Nanshan; There Were not notably differences between cough variant asthma (CVA)and bronchial asthma(BA) in the individual allergic carrier, hereditary tendency, study of patient children and working of family membership; Patients with BA usually had sudden attack and usually had to be in hospital during seriously attack. The medical expenses in children with BA were therefore more than those with CVA. Most of the children with BA had been treated regularly and their conditions trended to be released. Most of the children with CVA hadn’t been treated regularly including the therapy against tract hyper reactivity and their conditions prolonged and became to heavier.

Conclusion: In Nanshan area, the higher morbidity rate of asthma without seasonal prevalence  might be related to the existing of mites and fungi; for the reasons of  Shenzhen’s subtropics location where lead to prolonged high humidity; Regular treatment was important to CVA as well as BA and should  be paid much attention both in the local health administration and physicians.
