Objective: Aim of investigation – evaluation of condition of psychological adaptation of children, living in the Aral Sea region.

Methods: 118 children in age 9-12 years old, living in ecologically unfavorable region Aral Sea from birth, were examined by clinical-psychological method.

Results: Violations of psychological adaptation of children, living in the Aral Sea region are characterized by lowering of production and deceleration of performance of the tasks speeds (70%), quick exhaustion (48%), difficulty of attention concentration (56%), lowering of intellectual efficiency (42%). Gap in general functions of intellectual efficiency on 1,5 years – in children 9-10 years old in 40%; on 1 year – in children 11-12 years old in 20%. Underdevelopment of keen motions: in children in age of 9 years old – in 48,4%, in children in age of 10 years old – in 31,2%, children in age of  11 years old – 11%, children in age of 12 years old – in 10,1% cases.

Conclusion: Neuropsychological violations, which were detected in children form Aral Sea region, are early signs reflected structural-morphological changes of brain tissue. Main loading at adaptation is put on hypothalamic-limbic-reticular complex, which is most sensitive to chemical poisons and hypoxia. Abnormally high and lingering activity of non-specific structures of brain lead to gradual exhaustion of this system, that is cause of violation of optimal adaptation of children's organism.
