Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficiency of CTX impulse therapy on refractory nephrotic syndrome and on the serum level of soluble interleukin-2 receptors.

Methods: 15 cases of refractory nephrotic syndrome at active stage were treated with CTX, 8~12 mg/kg/time i.v. on two consecutive days once two weeks for 4~6 times. The cumulative doses were 60~120 mg/kg. The serum levels of soluble sIL-2R were detected before and after treatment using ELASA.

Results: The complete and total remission rate was 73.3%(11/15) and 80.0%(12/15), respectively. Among 9 cases steroid -resistant, 5 cases revealed complete remission to be a complete remission rate 55.6%, 1 casereached partial remission, the total remission rate was 66.7%. Of 10cases in remission, 7 cases were in their continuous complete remission (3 cases>2 years, 2 cases>1 year, 1 case>half a year). The sIL-2R level in serum decreased after treatment.

Conclusion: CTX impulse therapy can achieve favorable therapeutic results for refractory syndrome andserum sIL-2R is a sensitive indicator of evaluating efficiency.
