Objective: To evaluate the significance of digital video-electroencephalography (DV-EEG) in epilepsy and episodic symptomes in childhood

Methods: DV-EEG monitoring was performed in 198 children with episodic symptoms for 4~8 hour under the state of awaking and sleeping with evoked test Dischage and ictal burst wave were analysed.

Results: Seizures were recoreded in sevety-five from 198 children (37,9%). Discharge was recorded in ninty-four form 198 children (47.9%). 36 cases epileptic seizures and 39 cases nonepileptic seizures were identified among 75patients with seizures by ictal DV-EEG. 48 cases epileptic seizures were identified among 94 patients who had discharge of interictal DV-EEG. 8 cases were identified as epileptic seizure accompanying with nonepileptic seizure. Types of Seizure were defined in 75 of 84(89.3%) patients with epilptic seizure and epilepsy or epileptic syndromes were defined in 22 of them (26.2%).

Conclusion: DV-EEG can define the character of seizures and classify the types of epilepsy. That improves level of diagnosis.
