ABOUT THE SIMPLE NICU’S
ESTABLISHMENT IN HOSPITAL NEONATAL

Objective: To reduce neonatal the mortality rate.
Methods: 1. To further the staff training, to improve the
professional skills, to emphasize the sense of responsibility to the
critical patients, to use properly the equipment of the hospital, and to
share the artificial respirator with the respiration department of
medicine. 2. To combine the departments of
gynaecology & obstetrics and paediatrics, the doctors of the latter
reside permanently in the former infants rooms, to help to rescue the
critical patients there, and to treat the critical infant with NICU as soon
as possible. 3. To establish some strict rules, regulations and
detailed nursing principles for the critical patients. 4. Through 3-5 days observation and treatment by NICU, if
the patients’ turn stable, they should timely be sent to the rooming-in,
for the sake of the recovery of the diseased babies the better feeding of
mother’s milk and the decrease of labour power in the critical patients’
nursing.
Results: To establish the information comparison before and after NICU. After 4 years hard work, the infants ‘mortality reduces
from 5.02% to 1.91%, the premature infants mortality drops from 17.56% to
6.73%, the asphyxia neonatorum mortality reduces from 4.29% to 2.58%.
Conclusion: For the deficiency of patients to the department of paediatrics of the
polyclinic, and the limitation of the labor power and funds establishment
of a simple NICU can lead to reduction of the neonatal mortality rate.
