Objective: To introduce
a new design of rectal tube for anal dilatation and colonic lavage at the
same time.
Methods: a) A rigid
metal sheath of metal dilator, bigger than the rectal tube, serves as an
introducer of the rectal tube if necessary. b) A Common rectal tube with a
tip balloon, like Foley's, for fixation and a neck balloon next to it for
dilatation. 2. Retrospective review of a) 20 cases of Hirschsprung's
disease (H.D) and b) 20 cases of anarectal stricture with or without
fistula. The time of performance cases of rectal bleeding, cases of late
wound healing, and days for metal cleansing were recorded and compared with
the control group (under conventional dilatation and colonic lavage.)
Result: In
comparison with conventional method, it is: saving time; less traumatic
(pain, bleeding), better healing of wound, meeting the peri-surgical
requirement.
Conclusion: The New
design of rectal tube makes anal dilatation and colonic lavage at one time.
It is simple, convenient for pre- and post-operative care in cases of H.D
and anorectal anomalies.
