A STUDY ON CHILD
SOCIAL LIVING ABILITY OF MENTAL RETARDATION AND AFFECTING FACTORS

Objective: To
explore the features of social living ability of child with Mental
Retardation (MR) and the factors influencing child social living ability.
Methods: Out of
1332 child aged 6-16 years in Intelligence Test Clinic of Beijing Child
Health Care Institute from 1998 to 2000, 433 were found Intelligence
Quotient (IQ) £¼70, and IQ were tested by using Wechsler¡¯s Intelligence
Scale for Children ¨C Revised Chinese Version(WISC-CR). The 269 objectives
were selected from the 433 children, whose social living abilities were
measured by using Social Living Ability Scale for Infant - Juvenile, and
the information of their born conditions, development and families was
acquired from Intelligence Test Registration Form.
Results: Stepwise
regression found that variables entered in proper order were IQ,
residential environment, age of starting walking and occupation of mother
in 20 variables.
Conclusion: IQ,
residential environment, age of starting walking and occupation of mother
are the main factors influencing child social living ability of MR,
especially IQ.
