Objective: to evaluate the tenascin (TN) expression of MsPGN in renal
tissues; and relationship of TN expression and histological activity and
chronicity of these patients.
Methods: 24 renal specimens of
MsPGN patients were investigated for TN protein expression using
immunohistochemical method; the activity and chronicity index of these
patients were also evaluated.
Results: (1) TN expression was
significantly increase in MsPGN states, and its expression in the glomeruli
was correlate with which in the tubulointerstitium (r=0.458, P=0.015). (2)
TN protein staining in renal tissues was correlate with the chronicity
index of these patients (glomeruli: r=0.663, P=0.009; tubulointerstitium:
r=0.524, P=0.012). (3)There was a significant positive correlation between the
immunohistochemical TN score and Scr, urinary protein loss in
MsPGN patients.
Conclusion: (1) TN expression was
significantly increased in MsPGN patients. (2) TN protein expression may
reflect the chronicity index of MsPGN patients.
