Objective: to understand the recent effect and its related factors of cyclophosphamide pulse therapy in intravenous (CTX-PT) on children with refractory nephrotic syndrome (NS).
Methods: 86 cases of children with refractory nephrosis who accepted this therapy were analyzed in this study.
Results: (1) 52.33% were completely remission and 20.93% were partially remission, so the rate of total efficiency of this therapy was 73.26%. (2) The factors, which influence the effect of CTX-PT, were the clinical and pathological types of NS, the response to glucocorticoids treatment of these patients and the levels of Scr. The efficiency of patients with single type nephrosis was significantly better than that of patients with nephritic NS. The effects of patients with minimal change nephrotic syndrome and light messangial proliferated glomerulonephritis were 88.89% and 93.33% respectively, both were significantly higher than that of patients with other pathological types(P<0.05).The effects of patients who response to glucocorticoids were also better than those resistance to glucocorticoids(P<0.05).
Conclusion: the rate of total efficiency of CTX-PT on childhood refractory nephrotic syndrome was 73.26% and its related factors were clinical and pathological types, the response to glucocorticoids treatment and the levels of Scr of NS patients.
