NURSING ACTION IN PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY

Emergency
medicine plays a very important role in pediatrics field. It is closely
connected to nursing action. The author analyzed the cases in emergency
room of giving first aid in children¡¯s hospital from 1997 to 1999, to know
the nursing action in pediatrics emergency.
375 cases (240
in male and 135 in female) in emergency room are clinically analyzed.

Cases
were given first aid in emergency room including diseases of respiratory,
circulation, digestive, and neural system, diseases of newborn infant,
infection diseases, and drugs or food poisoning and others.

First aid
and nursing action
The nursing actions given was that supplying
oxygen; suctioning; intravenous infusion; monitoring heart and breathing rate,
blood pressure; administer medications; stomach wash out, and even trachea
incubation.

Conclusion
3.1
Pediatric
nurses who work in the emergency-room must have the ability to know the
procedure of the first aid, cooperation in nursing and medical and nursing
knowledge to ensure that everything are doing correctly.
3.2
They
have to have the ability to deal with all nursing problems and to master
all nursing skills in order to give first aid without delay.
3.3
Pediatric
emergency and nursing has its own specialty, because children have their
own character of physiology and psychology in the phase of growing,
especially infants who could not express themselves, and they could not
understand what are the nurses doing, all these made nurses doing anything
more carefully. In this investigation, 245 in 375 cases were under three
years old, including 59 of newborn, 71 cases from 0 year to 1 year, 115
cases from 1 to 3 years old. It shows that pediatric emergency nursing is
very important in lifesaving for children.
