Objective: The side effects of transfusion of umbilical blood
in pediatric hematological patients are observed.
Methods: 240 times of
transfusion of umbilical blood in 18 months were done. 80~100 ml of
umbilical blood were transfused every times. Dexamethasone had been used in
8 patients for preventing side effects.
Results: Febrile reaction had been
observed in 4 patients. No anasfuion-related infectious diseases had been
identified. The side effects of transfusion of umbilical blood in pediatric
hematological patients are ewer than transfusion of whole blood. Using of
dexamethasone had no influence on incidence of febrile reaction.
Conclusion: The transfion of
umbilical bood had less side effect. There was no need of use Dexamethasone
to prevnt the transfion reaction.
