文本框: EVALUATION OF ACTH EFFICACY IN INFANTILE SPASMS

Objective: To observe the clinical feature and evaluate the efficacy of ACTH therapy in infantile spasms (IS). 
Method: Thirty cases of SI patients were enrolled in this study. All cases were received ACTH therapy and the efficacy observed simultaneously. Results: Twenty-eight patients had the first seizure attack under one year of age and 23 cases cornplied with mental retardation previously. The electroencephlogram (EEG) detection was shown abnormal in all cases and 29 patients had hypersarrhythmtia. Abnormal brain CT screen was found in 23 cases. The seizures were controlled in 10 cases after 2 weeks of ACTH therapy. However, the patients complied with severe brain damage or the cases with convulsion emerged in neona81 period had poor ACTH therapy efficacy. 
Conclusion: ACTH therapy may be help 8JI in IS patients.
