Objective: Investigation on the normal value of HDL subfractions and apolipoproteins of healthy children in Changsha area.
Methods: Blood samples were taken from physically examined healthy children as standard method. The age groups were arranged into group A (1-3 yr), group B (4-6 yr), and group C (7-14 yr). Testing items include HDL subfractions (HDL1, HDL2, HDL3), and ApoA1, Apo-B. Determine method was COD enzyme linked immunoturbidimetric assays.
Results: Average values of HDL and APO in 3 groups are following:
	HDL1(mg/dl)	HDL2(mg/dl)	HDL3(mg/dl)	APO A1(g/L)	APO B(g/L)
 Group A 44.9±5.7 8.4±5.0 37.7±7.1 1.1±0.4 0.8±0.2
 Group B 49.2±14.4 13.1±3.8 35.3±9.2 1.1±0.3 0.8±2.2
 Group C 50.2±15.9 12.7±5.3 38.5±8.8 1.6±0.5 0.8±0.3
HDL2 in Group B was much higher than Group A (p<0.01). In the value of HDL3, there were marked difference between male and female children in Group C, the values of HDL3 in male were higher than female (p<0.01). But in other groups, no apparent difference was found whether in age or sex (p>0.05).
Conclusion: The determination of normal values of HDL subfraction and APO of children increase the items for selection and appraisal of children who has the risk of coronary heart disease, and will be helpful to the early prevention of atherosclerosis in adult up to childhood.
