文本框: A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON THE CAUSES OF ACQUIRED APHASIA IN CHILDHOOD AND THE ASSOICATED FACTORS

Objective:	Acquired Aphasia in Childhood (ACA) damages or makes the children losing the gained language capacity. The study of the causes and the associated factors of ACA will be valuable to the well being of children.
Methods: An analysis of the causes and associated factors of ACA from 37 children who were diagnosed and matched the definition of CAA and hospitalized in the Department of Internal Neurology from 1995-1998.
Results:	 Patients of ACA can be seen in a whole range of age groups.  Usually males are dominant.  Virus encephalitis was a major cause. The next was cerebral obstruction. Most of aphasia was under the categorization of global acquired aphasia. Brain CT scan showed a major intensity change; Electroencephalograph (EEG) all presented slow frequency of background rhythms, no unusual sign.
Conclusion:	Acquired Aphasia in childhood could be seen in all age groups. Encephalitis was a usual cause. Symptoms were mainly intensive, EEG showed a slow frequency of background rhythms.
