Objective: To explore the relationship between parental rearing patterns and emotional state among asthmatic children.

Methods: A total of 47 asthmatic children were assessed by Egma Minnen av Bardndosnauppforstran (EMBU), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (H-AMA) and Depression Status Inventory (DSI), and 30 healthy children were compared with.

Results: In the asthmatic children the scores of every branch of EMB-U were lower than in the healthy children, but hadn't statistic meaning. Comparing with the healthy children, the scores of anxiety and depression in the asthmatic children were higher, and extremely significant differences were found. A negative correlation was found between depressive emotion and parents' warmth and understanding in the asthmatic children.

Conclusions: The parents' rearing behavior among the asthmatic children and the healthy children had almost the same patterns. Relatively obvious emotional disorders existed in the asthmatic children. Depression had some relationship with parental rearing patterns .
