ABILITIES AND SKILLS DURING
PRE-GRADUATE MEDICAL INTERNSHIP IN THE MEXICAN INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SECURITY
(IMSS) IN MEXICO

Objective: To evaluate the
abilities and skills that are acquired during the pre-graduate internship
program by the students based on its academic program.
Methods: A survey with
multiple-choice questions that explore the type of abilities and skills
that the student should acquire on rotation through the internal medicine,
general surgery, pediatrics, gyneco-obstetrics, and emergency services.
Results: The abilities and
skills acquired during service rotation were significant except for the
rotation in pediatric service.
Conclusions: The acquisition of
abilities of levels of difficulty 1 and 2 and skills were 85% and <5% in
those of level 3.
