RESEARCH ON METHODS IN PREVENTION OF CHILDREN’S SIMPLE OBESITY

Objective:  This study was aimed at discussing further the methods in prevention of simple obesity in childhood to lower the incidence rate and to provide practical treatment and scientific evidences.

Methods:  172 of the total of 283 cases with simple obesity were involved in this study, coming from 15 kindergartens in 4 districts in the two cities of Shenyang and Yingkou. The cases of control group were 106. Using psychology-testing tables and teaching tool, children with obesity and their parents were given the treatment in psychology, diet and qualified exercises managed with computer for the duration of 3 months. Meanwhole, blood biochemistry analysis was performed. Statistic software was used to calculate the data. 

Result: The total responsive rate was 93.6% in 172 cases of children with obesity with the cure rate of 51.74%. There was significant difference in body weight, skin thickness (p<0.01). There was no significant difference in height, pulse, blood pressure and blood biochemistry (p>0.05).There was significant difference in psychological treatment before and after experiment in children’s with obesity and their parents(p<0.01).The responses of children aged 1 to 12 months were better than children aged 3-7 years old. The sensitive values of treatment were the skin thickness and body weight.

Conclusion: Early prevention and treatment of obesity in childhood should focus on the general treatment of infant with obesity, especially the psychological adjustment of parents of children with obesity.
