Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of “Wei Ping” granule in peptic
ulcers with children.
Methods: All 98 children with peptic ulcers confirmed by flexible
gastroscopy in Beijing Children’s Hospital between June 1992 and December
1997. Detected Helicobacter pyloric (Hp) used rapid urease testing (RUT) on
gastric biopsy and biopsy specimens with Giemsa stain. All patients took
“Wei Ping” granule orally over 4 weeks. After the therapy observe the
symptoms and physical signs to evaluate the curative effect. 65 children
were rechecked by gastroscopy, 76 children were followed-up after
discharge.
Result: 98 children (79 children with duodenal ulcers, 19 children with
gastric ulcers) were surveyed in this study. The clinical cure rate was
55.1%(54/98); improvement rate was 39.8%(39/98); ineffective rate was
5.1%(5/98); Total effective rate was 94.9%. To evaluate the curative effect
through gastroscopy: cure rate was 83.1%(54/65); improvement rate was
12.3%(8/65); ineffective rate was 4.6%(3/65); Total effective rate was
95.4%. The positive rate of Hp in peptic ulcers was 56.1%(55/98). After
therapy Hp eradication rate was 63.6%(35/55). 76 children were followed-up
after discharge, follow-up survey rate was 76.5%. Peptic ulcers recurrence
rate was 25.0%(19/76).
Conclusions: Traditional Chinese Medicine “Wei ping’’ granule improve the
curative effect and get lower recurrence rate in peptic ulcers.
