THE EFFECT OF ZYXH RECIPE ON THE MATURITY AND
DEVELOPMENT OF GIRLS WITH PREMATURE PUBERTY

Objective: To study the effect of Chinese Decoction Mixture on the
maturity and development of girls with premature puberty, we have treated
60 girls with early puberty for ZiYinXieHuo (ZYXH) Recipe.
Method: 20 girls with premature puberty were taken part in a physical
examination during which sexual maturity were evaluated according to
Tanner¡¯s classification with secondary sexual characteristics. They also
received X-ray picture for bone age and ultrasound detection for ovary and
uterus. Their breast development are all over Tanner stage 2. They were
treated for 1 year with a Chinese decoction named ZYXH Recipe, which
composed of Radix Rehmanniae, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, Cortex
Phellodendri,Rhizoma Alismatis, Radix Gentianae, Fructus hordei Germinatus,
Plastrum Testudinis et.al.
Result: (1) The Tanner stage of the breast development before and after
the administration were 2,14,7 and 10, 11, 2 for Tanner stage 2, 3 and 4
respectively (P<0.05). (2). The odds between the subduce of the Tanner
bone age during the therapy and that of the chronological age was
1.02¡À0.74. (3). The results of the ultrasound detection for the longitude
of the uterus were 3.1¡À0.48cm and 2.9¡À0.2 cm before and after the therapy
respectively (P>0.05). For the sectional area of the uterus were
4.31¡À1.94cm2 and 4.27¡À1.28 cm2
respectively (P>0.05). And the volum of the ovary were
2.81¡À1.39cm3 and 2.16¡À1.26 cm3 respectively (P>0.05).
Conclusion:
(1). The result of the evaluation of the
secondary sex characteristics showed that the early development of the
breast the girls retracted after the therapy. And the ZYXH decoction may
have some therapeutic effect on the sexual development of girls with
premature puberty. (2). The results of the odds between bone age and
chronological age showed that the bone age did not exceed the chronological
age. (3). The ultrasound detection of uterus and ovary showed no difference
before and after the therapy, suggesting that further follow-up was needed.
