文本框: THE VALUE OF CT EXAMINATION IN DIAGNOSIS OF PEDIATRIC CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM (CNS) DISEASES

Objective: To determine the value of CT examination in diagnosis of pediatric central nervous system (CNS) disease.
Methods: The clinical data and CT representations of 491 patients (male 321, female 170, aged from one day to 14 years) were reviewed in this paper.
Results: The major complainations of 491 patients included convulsion (171), headache (68), hypophrenosis (88), paralysis (45), trauma (43), mental retardation (17) and others. CT results revealed that the positive rate of CT examination in patients with convulsion  varied with age to a large extent, neonate tested was 100%, infant was 52%, and school-aged child was 37%; The rate of hypophrenic patients was 71%; Meanwhile, about 1/2 patients with paralysis or mental retardation had positive signs; And positive rate of individuals suffered from headache and trauma were only 30% and 18% respectively.   
Conclusion: CT examination is an effective method for diagnosing and differentiating CNS diseases in children.
