Objective: To investigate the immuno-pathological mechanism of LRTI caused by mycoplasma pneumonia.
Methods: Serum tumor necrosis factor-2 (TNF-2) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) from 30 patients with LRTI caused by mycoplasma pneumonia and healing controls were measured with sequeme saturated solution competitive radio-immunoassay and sandwich ELISA. The age rang was 3~10yrs (median 5yrs).
Results: The levels of serum TNF-2 and IL-8 of patients suffering from LRTI caused by mycoplasma pneumonia were magnificently higher than that of healthy children. Meanwhile, a positive correlation between serum TNF-2and IL-8 was noticed. Serum TNF-2 and IL-8 levels in seven cases were obviously higher than that of mild cases.
Conclusion: TNF-2plays an important role in LRTI caused by mycoplasma pneumonia, and serves the key factor to the elevation of IL-8.
