Objective: To explore the clinical assessment of the changes in cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in Kawasaki disease (KD) before and after treatment with intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG).
Methods: Concentrations of serum cTnⅠand Creatine kinase (CK), Lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), Glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (GOT) were measured in the KD group (n=58) before and after treatment with IVIG and in the control group (n=23).
Results: (1)There were no significantly statistical differences in the concentrations of serum CK and LDH, GOT between the KD group and the controll group (p>0.05);There was significantly statistical difference in the concentrations of serum cTnⅠbetween the two groups( p<0.001). (2) There was significantly statistical difference in cTnⅠbetween before and after treatment with IVIG ( p<0.001), were no significantly statistical differences in CK and LDH, GOT (p>0.05).
Conclusions: The measurement of cTnI maybe a useful serologic test for the early diagnosis of myocarditis or myocardial cell injury and using the IVIG therapy early can prevent cardiovascular abnormalities in KD patients, CTnI can be used for observing the effect of treatment with IVIG.
