Objective: To evaluate the clinical significance of delay enhanced CT scan in children with tuberculous meningitis
Methods:12 patients with tuberculous meningitis and 16 cases with meningitis not caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis were performed with delay enhanced CT scan, they were scanned for three times, at the time of administration, 5 and 10-15 minutes late respectively.
Results: All the cases with or without tuberculous meningitis were significantly enhanced in the area of cerebral arterial circle at the time of administration. Then the image intensity declined with the time in no tuberculous meningitis group. But there still was enhancement in this area in tuberculous meningitis group even after 10-15 minutes.
Conclusion: It was helpful to perform delay enhanced CT scan for the early and diffident diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis in children.
