NURSING OF CARBAMAZEPINE
HYPERSENSITIVITY SYNDROME

Objective: To explode nursing methods
to minimize secondary infection of carbamazepine hypersensitivity syndrome.
Methods: We closely observed the
change of mucocutaneous impairment of five cases with carbamazepine
hypersensitivity syndrome and nursed the patients carefully. Following up
was taken to know if consequences of the disease was decreased after
actively nursing.
Results: Of them, five cases had
fever. skin and internal organ damage. one had severe multiple erythema,
one had congestive macula, three had exfoliative dermatitis, four had liver
impairment, two had enlarged lymph nodes and one had
vaginitis.Carbamazepine was stopped and antibiotics , antianaphylaxis drugs
and nutrition support were used as treatment procedures. In nursing, we
protectively isolated patients, closely observed any change of rashes and
applied bufexamae cream, vitamin AD drops on damage skin and mucus member.
We got the patients and parents to accept the treatment by explaining and
reassuring them. Five cases were cured and discharged. After following up
for three months to six months, we did not find any signs of consequences
in all patients except skin pigmentation.
Conclusion: Protective isolation,
intensive mucocutaneous nursing and psychological nursing are three
critical nursing methods for the patients with carbamazepine
hypersensitivity syndrome.
