Objective: The ingredients of "Jade-Screen
Powder" £¨ÓñÆÁ·çÉ¢£©are
Ledebouriella root, Astragalus root, and Bighead atractylodes. It is an
early extant prescription of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for
clinical uses in China. Modern researches have proved that the recipe has
the effects on strengthening immunity. The purpose of this study is to
investigate the decocting technology of the prescription and assesses the
feasibility of analysing its components.
Methods: To set up the output power and the time of
decocting on the microwave oven. On the condition that the microwave
frequency was intrinsic, to decoct the "Jade-Screen Powder" and
its ingredients, the comparisons among their ultraviolet (UV) spectrum
analysis and contrasting with traditional decocting were made.
Results: Applying microwave technology to decoct
medicinal herbs was feasible and repeatable, the concentration of the
prescription decocting was increased and tallied with the technologic
standardization of medicinal herbs decocting. The results showed that the
UV spectrum analysis was characteristics, the peaks on absorptive spectrum
had the same position and were repeatable.
Conclusion: From these results it is concluded that
applying microwave technology to the decocting of medicinal herbs is more
economic and more standard and tallies with the traditional decocting
method.
