Text Box: A CLINICAL STUDY ON EARLY INTERMITTENT FEEDING VIA STOMACH TUBE IN SERIOUS PRETERM INFANTS

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of early intermittent feeding via stomach tube in serious preterm infants.
Methods: 96 cases of serious Preterm infants were randomly divided into 2 groups. The therapy group including 50 cases received treatment by inserting stomach tube via mouth, lavaging stomach first, then feeding intermittently until they could suck themselves, the control group including 46 cases received intervenous nutrition until they could suck themselves.
Results: A significant difference was seen in increasing weight after treatment and averagen increasing weight between two groups (all p<0.01), and feeding could also raise serum gastrin to a higher level (p<0.01).
Conclusions: Early intermittent feeding via stomach tube could decrease the occurance of complication, This method of operation is simple, the cast is low, and it can shorten hospitalization dates, It's scientific and practical, worth, spreading.
