Objective: To investigate the machenism and the effect of membranous milkvetch root, redpeony root and Chinese magnoliavine fruit on mice myocarditis caused by coxsackie virus B3 (CVB3).
Methods: Male BALB/c mice were inoculated i.p. with 107.5/ml TCID50 CVB3 and administered 20mg/g membranous milkvetch root,10mg/g redpeony root and 15mg/g Chinese magnoliavine fruit by gastric gavage for 7d starting 24h after viral inoculation. The heart histopathologic changes, the virus titer of heart, CK-MB and cTnI were observed.
Results: The histopathologic changes (necrosis, degeneration and cellular infiltration) was lighter, the virus titer of heart was lower (P<0.05), CK-MB and CTnI release was lower (P<0.001) in membranous milkvetch root, redpeony root and Chinese magnoliavine fruit treated group than in viral myocarditis and VitC treated group. The statistic is valuelar.
Conclusion: Membranous milkvetch root, redpeony root and Chinese magnoliavine fruit has obviously curative effectiveness to mice with viral myocarditis. The machenism may be anti-viral, improving of circulation and lightening of myocardial injury.
