Objective: To
obtain the profile of intervention effects on meconium aspiration syndrome
(MAS) by mechanical ventilation (MV), the process of MV were analyzed.
Methods:
Factors affecting the outcomes of 81 severe MAS cases from 9 children¡¯s
hospital were retrospectively analyzed with SAS and non-parametric rand sum
test and chi-square test were applied.
Results: The
results showed that 32 died in 81 (39%). The gestational age, Apgar score
at 1 minute, pneumotharax and FiO2, PIP, MAP showed some
relations with outcomes. 48 hours¡¯ PH, 72 hours¡¯ PaCO2, PaO2
and SpO2 after 12 hours were significant for prodicting the
clinical outcomes.
Conclusion:
The higher mortality of severe MAS intervented by MV suggests that the
effects of conventional MV for MAS must be re-evaluated.
