Objective: This study wanted to study the relations between the function of autonomic nerve and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) at various ages.

Methods: Persons are devided into three groups of children, adult and the aged. They are monitored with 24-hour development electrocardiogram in daily activities and analysed the parameters of HRV of time domain and frequency domain.

Results: 1. Children's parameters of time domine of HRV-- standard deviation of interval of total normal sinus beat (SDNN) are larger than that of adults’ and the aged. (SDNN children's group 151+41.1msadult's group 142+38.88ms the aged group 130+29.90ms2. The excitability of children's autonomic nerve or vegetative nerve (sympathetic and vago) is higher than that of other groups of persons. 3. Time domain of HRV of the aged group is smaller than that of other groups. SDNN the aged group  130+29.90ms children's group 151+41.1msadult's group 142+38.88ms

Conclusion: Time domain of HRV drops in the aged group. Parameters of time domain of HRV are negative relation with age.
