SCORPIO TEACHING SESSIONS - PROGRAMME EVALUATION

SCORPIO (Structured, Clinical, Objective, Referenced, Problem Oriented, Integrated, Organized) Learning Module (recommended by David A. Hill, 1992) was implemented in CME Center during Perinatal Training Programme, Skopje, Macedonia in June 2000.

 

The SCORPIO Teaching Session has three phases: planning, running and evaluation. After process of planning (students, content, tutors) next step is running it as a teaching / learning method. Teaching time is 3 hours and the contents are: Preliminary Lecture (20min.), structured SCORPIO stations (25min/station)and Formative Assessment (performance-based).In each SCORPIO station, small groups rotate around(group size 6-8 participants).One tutor is running one particularly station, trying to promote interactive teaching and avoiding didacticism and overloading. Whole Program Evaluation is done by informal (anonymous). Questionnaire which is used for redefining the programme.

Questions on which 61 participants (12 evaluation questionnaires) had opportunity to evaluate the SCORPIO teaching/learning model, were as it follows with the results:

Successful results from Evaluation Questionnaire that we got during CME Perinatal Programme is good recommendation of competency-based learning method because it is small-group ,student-centered, multi-disciplinary teaching method.
