Objective: The changes of serum nitric oxide in children with glomerular diseases.

Method: Using the Griess Reaction the stable metabolite of nitric oxide (NO) in serum was examined in children with idioapatic nephrotic syndrome (NS), acute glomerulonephritis (ANG) and Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP).

Results: The results showed the serum NO of patients with NS, AGN and HSP changed in different degree as compared with normal control.

Conclusion: These findings suggested that the level of serum NO was correlated with different illness courses of glomerular diseases and the measurement of serum NO concentration might be a useful method to distinguish NS from ANG.

Key Words: Glomerular diseases; Serum; Nitric Oxide
