Objective: To observe the
outcome of androgen of external use used to treat hypoplasia of penis and
the change of serum sex hormone.
Methods: 27 children (age range 3-9 years) who have hypospadias with hypoplasia of penis,
were treated with 1% cream of testosterone external used on glans and
phallosome. The penile length, diameter and serum T, LH, FSH were measured
before treatment and after month respectively.
Results: The penile length and
diameter changed from 2.09±0.52
and 1.19±0.22 to 2.97±0.80 and 1.65±0.19 accordingly, statistics showed the penile
length and diameter have marked difference (p >0.05), but serum sex
hormone has not marked difference between before and after treatment.
Conclusion:
It has been demonstrated that androgen of external use is the first
treatment for hypospadias with hypoplasia of penis. There are not
complications such as serum hormone foul-up, the age of bone shifts to an earlier
date unlike HCG via injecting muscle.
