ABOUT SIDE EFFECTS OF IMMERSION BATH WITH NEOGERAMINE IN BURNING CHILDREN

Objective: To notice the side effects of immersion bath with neogeramine in burning
children in time and manage them properly, and to improve the treatment of
burning.
Methods: 50 cases of burning children, mild to
moderate degree and without infection, were reviewed. All of them have received
immersion bath with 1:5000 neogeramine one time (10 to 15 minutes) per day
during hospital stay.
Results: 6 cases out of 50, with a
percentage of 12%, met side effects. 3 of them presented with shivering and
hyperpyrexia, 2 of them had transient
fever, the other one appeared as cutaneous eruption. Giving antihistamine
and changing bath liquid can properly manage all the side effects.
Conclusion: In cases receiving immersion bath with
neogeramine, a few of them meet side effects, including shivering, hyperpyrexia, transient fever and cutaneous
eruption. Proper managements are needed, such as giving antihistamine and
changing bath liquid.
