Objective: To explore the effect of
interleukin-6 (IL-6) on the development of congestive heart failure (CHF).
Methods: Plasmic IL-6 and
norepinephrine (NE) levels、cardiac
index (CI), ejection fraction (EF), left ventricular mass index (LVEF) were
determined in 30 children with CHF and 20 age matched health children.
Results: (1)Plasmic
levels of IL-6, NE were much higher in CHF group (395.4±193.5pg/ml and 558.5±317.9ng/L, respectively) than control group
(107.0±93.9pg/ml and 128.6±96.5ng/L, respectively).
The differences between the two groups are significantly (t=5.995 and t=5.749,
respectively, p all<0.001). (2) Cardiac function is
correlated to both levels of IL-6 and NE.(3)The levels of plasmic IL-6
and NE are positive correlated(r=0.89, p<0.05) in CHF.
Conclusion: The results suggested
that plasmic IL-6 may be a diagnostic marker for cardiac function prognosis
and it increased may be a mechanism of protection in CHF.
