FIRST AID AND NURSING OF
CHILDREN WITH CLOSED INTRAABDOMINAL ORGAN TRAUMA

Objective: Closed intraabdominal organ trauma is a severe emergency condition and
is often accompanied with blood loss, serious infection, shock and may lead
to death. To improve the pragnosis of children suffered from intraabdominal
organ trauma.The key point of first aid and nursing of this disease during
pre-operation, operation and post-operation were summarized.
Methods: 12 cases (male 9, female 3) were
collected from January 1993 to December 2000. The range of ages is from one
day to 13 years. 4 cases were operated. The others were treated with
conservative therapy. The first aid and nursing of the patients include as
follow. Two venous lines were immediately started, rapid replacement of
blood volume, monitor vital signs closely, to monitor heart rate, blood
pressure, respiration, consciousness, complexion, and urine volume every
5-15 minutes at the beginning, then every 30 minutes. Ensure various
passages from obstructing. Supply better caring of complication, essential
nursing and psychological care.
Results: 11 patients were cured and one wasn’t
adhere to be treated.
Conclusion: The rapid and effective therapy is
crucial for closed intraabdominal organ trauma.
