Objective: To
invistigate the damage of myocardium in children with Infectious
Mononucleosis (IM).
Methods: The
cardiac manifestation was observed, ECG was examined and the level of myocardium
enzymogram including glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase (GOT), lactic
dehydrogenase (LDH), hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (HBD), creatine kinase
(CK) and the isoenzyme of creatine kinase that contains one M and one B
subunit(MB) was assayed in 86 children with IM.
Results: (1)There
were 32 patients (37.1%) with abnormal cardiac manifestation (five patients
with abnormal symptoms and 32 patients with abnormal cardiac signs). (2)
There were 34 (39.5%) patients with abnormal ECG results. (3) The level of
myocardium enzymogram in serum was increased in 68 patients (79.1%).
Conclusions: The
myocardium is damaged in most children with IM. It should be payed
attention to and corresponding treatment should be given.
