Objective:
To investigate the MRI features of inflammatory pseudotumor of the
liver (IPL).
Methods:
MR images, as well as the clinical data of 6 cases of IPL confirmed by
operation and pathology were analyzed retrospectively.
Results:
All cases were solitary, round with the diameter ranged from 1.0 to 4.0 cm.
4 of 6 cases lied in the right lobe of the liver. On T1-weighted
images all lesions were hypointense relative to the surrounding liver. On T2-weighted
images two lesions were slightly hypointense and one isointense and the
others were slightly hyperintense. Hypointense signal loop was found in 4
cases on T2-weighted images and 2 on T1-weighted
images.Hyperintense signal loop was found in another case on T2-weighted
image.
Conclusion: T2-weighted
MR imaging, combined with a history of bileduct infection or no chronic
hepatic diseases, is helpful to the diagnosis of IPL.
