Objective: To explore the method and clinical efficacy of transcatheter closure of the coronary artery fistula with coil or Amplatzer DUCT-OCCLUD.
Methods: 14 cases of coronary artery fistula underwent percutaneous DUCT¡ªOCCLUD coil or Amplatzer occlusion at the Department of cardiology, Shanghai Children¡¯s Medical Center. The mean age was 7 years (range from 4 years to 12 years); The mean diameter of the fistula was 3.65mm (range from 2.0 mm to 6.6mm). Standard right and retrograde left heart catheterization and selective coronary angiography were performed, the coil or Amplatzer DUCT-OCCLUD was chose to occlude.
Results: the coil were used in 13 cases (10 cases were successful, 3 cases were failure because of the too small coil), the Amplatzer DUCT-OCCLUD was used in 1 case, 11 cases had immediate complete closure, confirmed by aortography and echo. At follow-up from one month to four years, there were no hemolysis, thrombosis, endocarditis, myocardial infarction.
Conclusion: Transcatheter closure of the coronary artery fistula with the DUCT-OCCLUD coil or Amplatzer have good clinical efficacy and safety.
