Objective: to evaluate the 5 different transcatherter closure methods for PDA using CDFI
Methods: from March 1989 to July 1999, 282 cases underwent 5 different interventional closure methods (porstmann¡¯s, rashkind¡¯s, sideris¡¯s, coil¡¯s and amplatz¡¯s) for PDA. CDFI evaluation has been conducted before procedure, and 1 day up to 6 months after procedure. The study included diameter of LA, LVDD, and the displacements of device, residual flow and changes of hemodynamics.
Results: LA, LVD decreased significantly in all of 5 groups(p<0.001). They became almost normal in 6th month late after procedure. The residual flow in the main PA were 17%, 6.4% and keep the same respectively at 1 day, 3 month, 6 month late after procedure. The displacements of device and changes of hemodynamics.
Conclusion: Effects of interventional closure methods (coil¡¯s and amplatz¡¯s) for PDA which was smaller than or was equal to 8.1mm and 2.5mm are favorable in short and long term follow-up examination, they replaced essentially the surgical treatment.
