Objective: Asphxia before, during or after birth is an important cause of perinatal mortality and neurologic morbidity. After an asphyxial episode, some infants recover neurologically intact, whereas others can develop permanent deficits. We investigated the incidence of perinatal asphyxia in infants with rhesus isoimmunization.
Methods: This study was performed between January 1992 and December 1999. Eighty five infants with rhesus isoimmunization were born at these years. Their status at birth and perinatal and neonatal outcomes were investigated.
Results:	Fourteen percent infants of the admitted patients died perinatally. The incidence of perinatal asphyxia was 26 % in infants with rhesus isoimmunization. But the incidence of overall perinatal asphyxia was 2,7 % in our clinic at these years.
Conclusion: Anemia is an important factor in intrauterine fetal hypoxia. We thought the anemia in the fetus can increase its vulnerability to asphyxial injury in labor. We prospected the long term outcome of these babies.
